RE: the CPT hostages in Iraq:
A multinational and Iraqi swat team
'snatched' them, successfully,
from their captors in the wee hours, Baghdad
time.
BBC is reporting that NO ONE was killed in
this operation, not the
hostages, their "hosts" or the SWAT team.
BBC is focusing A LOT on the pacifist and
religious beliefs of Norm
Kember, the Briton, and have said a lot about
the work of the CPT in
Palestine, Guatemala, and in other conflict
zones.
For more details, see http://electronicIraq.net where we will be
posting all kinds of news, analyses and
details throughout the day, as
our site is a joint collaboration between the
CPT and the
ElectronicIntifada team. We rarely have good
news to report from Iraq,
so this is a happy day.
These are some of the bravest people in the
world, and very committed
to their mission. Models for us all.
It is so sad that the US member of the team,
Tom Fox, was murdered,
though.
Cheers,
Laurie
